Let’s
clarify some differences in what we perceive as a goal. There
are two types of goals, Emotional
and Physical.
1.Theemotional type:
I
want to be rich
I
want a new house
I
want to be healthy
An
emotional
goal is ‘wishing’and‘wanting’.It has no benchmark.Like saying ‘I want
to be
rich’.So What? Not to disregard the emotion, but it
is what it
is, until you
define it.
A
physical
goal
is a want or
desire that has
been defined
and can be acted upon.
2.The physical
type:
I
intend to make $5,000 a month.
I
intend to be
smoke free.
I
intend to
build a retirement
fund.
I
intend to be
healthy, Etc.
See
the difference?
Want versus
Intent. To
validate the
meaning, ask and answer some relevant questions. WWHWW.Why?
Who? How? What? When?Read the book ‘The Power Of Intention”
by Dr.
Wayne Dyer.
Here’s
a big one; ‘I want to be rich!’[emotional] Q:
·Why
do I want to be rich?
·Who,
besides
myself, will benefit?
·How
would my life be different?
·What
tools do I need?
·When
will it happen?
The
Answerschange the focus
to the physical
part
of the goal:
·Why?=security
·Who?=Family
·How?=Avenues
·What?
=Amounts
·When?
=set
dates
The
statement ‘I want to be healthy’[emotional]
As
it’s written, is a ‘want’, it
has no definition until you ask
& answer:
Why
do I want to be healthy?
Who
will
benefit from it?
How
will I get from here to there
What
does it mean to me?
When
will it happen?
It
has no specific aim unless or until you
NAME it.The defining
moment
comes when you can
say:
‘I
intend to be smoke
free’,
‘I
intend to
weigh
— pounds’, etc.
It’s
only when you do the Q&A,
then take aim, when
you begin to see the difference
